grizzly bear, snarling, sweating in black sweats
who says an elephant ever forgets
tragedy and betrayal?
down goes thicker than steel walls,
windows shatter onto the dim street
as the sound of grizzly bear footfalls
silence,
stutter,
appalls.
an impatient patient has escaped:
the thorazine has worn off
side effects are not limited to
white women grabbing their purses
a little bit tighter
taxi cabs driven by other black men
treating him like a black widow spider
to be run over, stepped on, blown by
and yet,
they can't stare a grizzly bear
right in the eye
and make him blink.
