a.llegorical

ahistorical:
my dreadlock vines announce pride like an oracle.
this five foot nine stature
the heritage of ancient slave capture.
the girth of my congo river eyelashes
granite spine engraved by plantation whipslashes.

allegorical:
sumtinsame as metaphorical.
allegorical: meaning a symbol for something
something larger than the sum of eighteen universes
something wiser than a million hoary sages
something more eternal
than the moonlight’s placid mockery.

allegorical: is a person like me
a person not yet free
not yet free like a microbe in a science dish
elemental experimental conquer wish
they want to make us into microbes
stuck in dish-like jails
where cain’n’abelism prevails.
one million africans just like me
our cheapass labor leaves no paper trails.
and look here
me wanting to be
something allegorical
much bigger than himself
much bigger than vast sums of stolen wealth
perhaps, a genuine representation of health
a rebel that would never operate in stealth

never say sorry
if your life’s an allegory.

never say sorry
or make up a phony story
if you stand for something else.
